ANDRE GAHRMANN
André born in Haarlem and has worked at municipality police force with
police-dogs, where he has trained dogs among other things for tracing
narcotic substances. Also he has been secretary of the Netherlands
Pencak Silat Association (Indonesian self-defence) and has followed and
governing board training for this in Djakarta (Indonesia). He has
become on a tournament in Vienna (Austria) champion in the full contact
game competition of Pencak Silat. Since 1996 to dancing. Started with
Cuban salsa. For this went to Cuba and had lessons there at the ballet
Folkorico Cutumba in Santiago, and privat lessons at the several
teachers of this dancing school. In 1999, started with lesson give in
Cuban salsa in Zaandam. In 2000, eventually arrived at Club Asi in
Haarlem and fascinated by the L.A.style of Marlon Castillo such as he
has brought that to Europe. In 2001 together with his partner Tonka
started Salsamotion and started to give classes in Schagen and 2003,
added to the teachers team of Club Asi Haarlem. Since 01 April 2005
with Tonka have become owner have of this famous Haarlem salsa dancing
school. Meanwhile also very appreciated as a.k.a. DJ Andres and
performed on foreign festivals such as Monaco, Athens, Dublin, Berlin
etc.
TONKA BARRERA
Born in Paris, half Dutch/Chilean, Lived 10 years in Spain and worked in the travel world.
Her dancing history started in 1992, with Argentinian tango in The
Hague. In 1994, she made knowledge with salsa and touched in the spell
of this dancing, because of the sparkling and vigorous aspect. She
ended up in 1999, in Asi-showteam of the Haarlem salsa dancing school
club Asi. As from 2002 she assisted Paul "Gallito" Baarn in teaching.
She has also danced in a tv-commercial of Nescafé with as topic the
tango Argentinian . Besides salsa teacher Tonka also is a certificated
astrologer and teaches at the College for nature healing in
Bloemendaal. Also she is a yoga teachers, gives lessons in Foot
reflexology and is coach in NLP (neuro-linguistic programming).
