What is salsa?
Salsa means “sauce” in Spanish. Different ingredients mixed together into a complete tasty goodness.
This also happens with the music and the dance style that belongs with it.
It is a collective term for different kinds of dances such as Son, Danzon, Guaguanco, Cha cha, Mambo and so on.

History
Salsa likely originated on Cuba, where the music of African slaves mixed with the Spanish rhytms.
After this Salsa spread itself and through the seventies the popularities of Latin music increased, and the collective term was accepted in general.
Several styles originated, from which three main streams existed.
The Cuban Salsa, the New York style and the Los Angeles Styling.
Salsa is still in motion and more and more new initiatives and developments arise.
